Mass in mediæval tone, 2004 |
video DVD - MHDVD 107 |
Not a mediæval mass proper, since people need to sit down these days and hear something in a language they understand: so we start with a mediæval experience and after 50 minutes we have passed through early renaissance sounds to a reformation atmosphere, with music from around 1600 and the spoken word in Swedish. One of the activities which form part of the progamme for visitors to the mediæval church of Ytterlennes, Northern Sweden, every summer. Five voices, harp, recorder, organ. An amateur production of course, offered 'as is', warts and all: but it's a very special atmosphere ... Filmed with three cameras, so there's some interesting variations of angle. More about the church here, and about the summer activities here.
